Your food choices each day affect your overall health — how you feel today, tomorrow, and in the future. It’s important to eat a good nutritious diet no matter what age you are – there’s never a bad time to make some changes.
They include fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, unrefined grains, and beans. They're unprocessed, unrefined and don’t contain any added salt, added sweeteners, added fats or artificial additives, better for your health. Whole foods are very high in vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and water, which is why they will keep you healthy and energized. By choosing whole foods over processed foods, you'll be able to enjoy delicious meals without feeling guilty or bloated afterwards.
Make half your plate fruits and vegetables
Choose red, orange, and dark-green vegetables like tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, along with other vegetables for your meals. The more colourful you make your plate, the more likely you are to get the vitamins, minerals, and fibre your body needs to be healthy.
Eat your greens
Green leafy vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli and romaine lettuce will help you to detoxify, alkalize your body and get your mineral levels up. They're packed with essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, and magnesium that will boost your energy levels, strengthen your immune system and clear up your skin.
Avoid processed carbohydrates
Like white bread, pasta and breakfast cereals, and choose healthy carbohydrates such as fresh fruits and sweet root vegetables instead. They'll reduce your cravings for sugary snacks and keep your energy levels high at all times.
Drink water
Cut calories by drinking water. Soda, energy drinks, and sports drinks are a major source of added sugar and calories in diets that are just not needed. Try adding a slice of lemon, lime, or watermelon to your glass of water if you want some flavor.
